Home Owner - Surveys

Over the years buildings can suffer from a number of problems resulting from external influences such as subsidence, general maintenance matters and defects in the original construction. As Chartered Building Surveyors, we are well placed to advise on such problems as we have a detailed knowledge of how buildings are constructed; the problems that can affect different sections of the building and the best course of action to remedy the problem. The types of survey include:

Report on Specific Defects for example subsidence or other structural movement, roofing defects, dampness and appraisals prior to work being carried out.

Home Information Pack

From December 2007 sellers are required to provide a Home Inspection Pack when they place their properties on the market in England and Wales. The pack needs to include an Energy Performance Certificate.

This and the Home Condition Report are prepared by Domestic Energy Assessors and Home Inspectors.

Both qualifications are lesser qualifications than that of Chartered Building Surveyor but it is a statutory requirement for all Home Inspectors, whether currently qualified or not to become registered.

Further information on the Home Information Pack is available at http://www.homeinformationpacks.gov.uk/consumer/
